I generally wear the same clothes while hiking: a long-sleeved shirt or sun hoodie with shorts. In colder weather, I prefer to add light layers, rather than add long pants. Although they add some weight, I normally carry a set of "town clothes" because I don't like to wear rain gear while doing laundry.
